Tata-Chika-Pika is located 27 miles north of the village of Gogama in the beautiful rolling Stetham Hills. The region is known internationally for its fishing and scenery. Lake Tatachikapika is a relatively virgin lake and no one else has built on it. The beauty is still unspoiled and the rugged scenery of this wilderness district is unsurpassed.
Accommodations
Our 6-unit motel offers sliding glass doors to pine decks, 2 double beds (extra cots available) with modern bathrooms. We also have a 9-person hot tub in the motel. We have 9 modern cottages competely equipped and furnished. There is also an outpost cabin with accommodations for 6 people.
Each cottage has a modern kitchen equipped with hot and cold water, electric refrigerator, gas range, dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils and tea towels. All bathrooms have a flush toilet, wash basin and shower. Towels are supplied. Each bedroom is furnished with continental or double beds - all bedding is supplied. Rollaway beds are available.
Camping
Tents, trailers, truck campers, motor homes.
Every campsite is supplied with a picnic table and an electrical outlet. Running water is available near each campsite. BBQs are available. Some sites have a full service hook-up. Laundry, shower and bathroom facilities are available in the motel.
Dining
Our main lodge offers fine dining in our licensed dining room overlooking the lake. Choose a table by the window and savour your meal in our relaxed ambiance. After your relaxing meal, take in a game of pool in our recreation/games room.
Fishing
We boast some of the best fishing found anywhere, with approximately 26 miles of open water and 15 miles of river fishing. Try your luck at landing that big one with White Fish, Walleye (Pickerel), Perch and Great Northern Pike. Your catch can be cleaned in our screened-in fish cleaning house, which is equipped with running water and a cleaning table for your convenience.
Our rental boats are 14-foot Lunds with 9.9 outboard motors. Gasoline, outboard motor oil and licenses are available at the lodge, as well as minnows, worms, lures, etc. Our launching facilities are excellent and dockage is guaranteed. Fishing packages are available. Lake Tatachikapika, and in effect the Lodge, mark the beginning of the River Canoe Route leading up to James Bay.
Hunting
Archery and rifle hunters are welcome. The moose and bear success rate in our area is among the best in northern Ontario. We have facilities to keep your meat cool so you don't have to rush home. Assistance with skinning, wrapping and freezing is available. Book early so you won't be disappointed. Hunting packages are also available.
Family Fun
For good family fun, whether it be paddle boats, sailing, canoeing, or motor cruising, the lake offers everything. We have a small beach that is ideal for swimming and just lazing in the sun. About 12 miles south of Tata-Chika-Pika, on the lake, there is a long natural sand beach that takes your breath away with its beauty and solitude. The Gogama wilderness area can truly be called a Sportsman's Paradise, and Tata-Chika-Pika is an ideal place to spend your family vacation.
